In the last two years the group has made its presence felt in all the domains of MIYCN i.e. policy making, academia, and research. The following activities are being carried out by the group.

1. Quality monitoring of public health and nutrition intervention delivery in the first 1000 days of life under Poshan Abhiyan by Community Medicine departments- A pilot project

This activity is being carried out by AIIMS Patna in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar and by the Community Medicine departments of Government Medical College, Kannauj, in Kannauj district of UP. Dr CM Singh and Dr Dinesh Martolia are leading the project in Bihar and UP respectively and working closely with the health system and nutrition related platforms at the district and the state level. The preliminary findings have been shared with NITI Ayog and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. A tripartite agreement has been signed between IAPSM, NITI Ayog, and Alive & Thrive, India to scale up the project to three more districts in the same states.

2. Integration of MIYCN curriculum for medical undergraduates.
A MIYCN module has developed for medical undergraduates as per the new Competency Based Curriculum. Community Medicine departments and IAPSM members have a major role to play in coordinating its implementation in the respective medical college along with Paediatrics and Gynaecology and Obstetric departments. It is being implemented in a pilot phase in certain selected medical colleges in Bihar and Jharkhand.

3. Rapid assessment of MIYCN related practices among the private practitioners of Paediatrics and Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
Most of the antenatal, delivery, and postnatal related services are being provided by private practitioners in the community. There is lack of data related to MIYCN awareness and practices in these setups. In collaboration with Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) and Federation of Obstetrics, Gynaecological Society of India (FOGSI), IAPSM will lead this rapid assessment in five states of India.

4. Newsletter publication and dissemination focusing on MIYCN related guidelines, experience sharing, emerging evidences, and reporting of events.
Three newsletters have been published and disseminated in various national and regional IAPSM conferences. Online versions are available on this website.
